Mongolian traditional milk vodka dates back to 200 BC, during the Xiongnu Empire. The person who first introduced it to the world was the famed Venetian merchant Marco Polo. It’s written in his memoir that “Mongolians produce an alcoholic beverage called airag from cow milk and distilled to make vodka.” Mongolians have kept this traditional distillation method unchanged for thousands of years.
Nomadic Mongolians, known for their heritage and culture, have been making and enjoying their alcoholic beverages for ages. These beverages are made with nutrient-rich dairy.
We are keeping this valuable heritage alive with our traditionally made Finest Shimiin Okhi milk wine. This local favorite is known amongst nomads for its health benefits for digestion and relieving fatigue when enjoyed responsibly.
Based on 20 years’ experience, three years of experimentation and a special, multi-layer filtration technology, we have maintained the unique, natural character of this wine brewed from the curd of fermented yak milk.
Shimiin Okhi is a milk wine that is the result of a one-stage process of distillation, without adding even a drop of water. Shimiin Okhi is a highly valued traditional gift reserved for the most respected guests.
During these times of globalization, keeping traditions and passing them onto the next generation is an integral necessity of our modern lives. Promoting this heritage to the world is our unique pride.
